RICHMOND, Va. – People who plan on visiting First Fridays will find a new transit option available.
The Downtown Neighborhood Association is sponsoring the trolley. It is free to ride and will run in a continuous loop over four hours, from 5:30-9:30 p.m.
On board riders will find free map guides to the Arts District.
Event organizers can’t confirm if there will be a trolley monthly, but said they are working towards that goal.
“The Art Walk is getting big – even though we’re limited to just the Arts District, it’s still hard for someone to get around the entire event over the course of the evening,” said Meghan Barbato, Director of First Fridays. “We regularly have months where the art walk runs from the Depot Gallery at VCU to UR’s Downtown campus location at 7th & Broad.”
“Plus there are galleries & participating locations on Clay, Grace, Marshall, and Franklin,” Barbato added.
Organizers also hope that the transportation will encourage people who “might usually just hit the same places every month to have an easy way to try something new and get to new locations.”
The trolley will stop at the following locations, below. Again, it runs for four hours, starting at 5:30 p.m. even though First Fridays technically runs from 5 – 9 p.m.
