HANOVER COUNTY, Va. -- A group hoping to honor Meg Menzies, the beloved Hanover mother killed by a drunk driver, is getting close to reaching their latest goal.
Friends and family of Meg Menzies are hoping enough people will pre-order the memorial license plates so production can start.
And as of Wednesday, the group needed just 90 more people to pre-order the plate. [Click here for the DMV order form.]
The group asks that you mail your completed order form with a $35 check made payable to “Megsmiles License Plate” no later than Feb. 5 to:
Megsmiles License Plate
9137 Chamberlayne Road, Suite 100
Mechanicsville, VA 23116
Officials said that if they did not meet the minimum requirements to get the plate created, they would offer refunds.
Meg Menzies was struck and killed by Michael Carlson while she ran on Route 54 in Mechanicsville in January of 2014.
After her death, runners around the world ran races and marathons in Meg's honor.
