Posted

RICHMOND, Va - Virginia This Morning Resident Foodie Shayne Rogers was back in the kitchen with a simple recipe for Crock Pot Apple Dumplings. You can sweeten the deal by serving up these dumplings with ice cream.

Crockpot Apple Dumplings

2 pkg refrigerated crescent rolls

2-3 apples, cored and cut into 8 slices each

1 stick of butter

½ c sugar

1t cinnamon

1t ground ginger

½ t allspice

½ t nutmeg

¼ t ground cloves

1 c ginger ale

Ice cream for serving

Coat crockpot with non-stick spray.  Mix spices together in a small bowl.  Toss half of spice mix with sliced apples and wrap apples with crescent dough. Load wrapped apples into crockpot, scatter extra apple pieces in too.  Melt butter and stir in remaining spice mixture and sugar. Pour over dumplings in crockpot, making sure to get into all of the nooks and crannies.  Next pour the ginger ale into the crockpot.  Turn it on high, cover with a chopstick between the lid and pot, and cook for about 4 hours. Serve with ice cream, if you like.
