CHESAPEAKE, Va -- Six people are dead after a murder-suicide in Hampton Roads Thursday morning.
Police were called to the 2300 block of Wildwood Road at around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon for a welfare check. When they arrived at the home, they found a body inside.
Investigators followed-up at a home near the intersection of North George Washington Highway and Wintergreen Drive. There, they encountered a person armed with a gun barricaded inside.
Police negotiated with the person for hours until they finally made their way inside. After entering the home, they found five additional bodies, including the body of the suspect.
Police said the six people were related. The suspect is believed to have killed the family members before police arrived on the scene.
