Bill and Shelly announce new Richmond radio station

Posted

RICHMOND, Va. — Two years after they left their longtime radio home Lite98 for Easy 100.9, the much-loved radio duo “Bill and Shelly” have found yet another home. This time though, they won’t have to leave their current studio. Easy 100.9 announced it would change its name to STAR 100.9. Along with the name change came a change in musical formats as well.

“We’ve been listening to you,” Bill Bevins said in a video posted on Facebook.

“We heard your feedback,” Shelly Perkins continued. “We know you want something a little more upbeat, something fun to get you through your day and that’s what we’re giving you.”

STAR 100.9 will feature “classic hits” from the 70s, 80s and early 90s from artists like Elton John, Madonna, Michael Jackson and Bon Jovi.

“People who grew up with Top 40 music wanted a station more in line with what they remember from high school and college days,” STAR 100.9 Program Director Buddy Van Arsdale said. “So we’re giving them just that with the new STAR 100.9.”

Bill and Shelly will remain at the station.

“Bill and Shelly are a Richmond institution and our listeners love them,” Richmond market President Bob Willoughby said. “They will continue to be a huge part of everything we do.”
