CHESTERFIELD, Va. – The massive snowfall from the 11th biggest snowfall Virginia has seen left many in a lurch. The news station has been inundated with calls and e-mails asking for help with snow removal.

There is one man who has been making it his mission to dig out the sick and elderly. Oscar Johnson, with Calico Farms Companies, has been looking out for people.

Long driveways and clearing sidewalks are what crews from Calico Farm Companies have been doing for hours on end after the January blizzard that dumped snow over the Richmond-area for almost 36-hours straight.

“It just blew everybody away,” Oscar said about the storm.

Oscar, who owns the company, said his team is on a mission to make life easier for some homeowners like Caroline Perkinson.

Caroline missed a few radiation treatments because of the storm.

Oscar’s crew didn't hesitate to zip to her Chesterfield home when CBS 6 News told them Perkinson had contacted us asking for help to clear her driveway.

She's extremely grateful.

“Then we have the elderly and those with medical problems that need help and so we are doing those for free,” Oscar said. “We are just here to help.”

Around Chesterfield, the work hasn't gone unappreciated.

Laurie Johnson said seeing their equipment pull into her driveway was a godsend.

“He cleared it for me,’ Laurie said. “I was ecstatic. I was almost in tears because I have colon cancer, stage four. All the people were going back-and-forth and he's the only one that stopped to help me.”

Oscar said it's just about paying it forward.

He said it is a kindness he hopes others would show to him and his family if they were ever in need.
