RICHMOND, Va. -- Most people have to head back to work Tuesday morning, and CBS 6 found side roads all over the area still haven’t been touched by a plow.
“They`re terrible, they really need to be cleaned,” a man in Church Hill said.
Larry Burnett’s job for the Virginia Department of Corrections makes him essential personnel, so he had to go to work Monday.
But, he didn’t get far before getting stuck.
CBS 6 reporter Melissa Hipolit found his car spread across his street.
“Ah, there's no street, just ice,” Burnett said.
Burnett lives in South Richmond right by Mayor Dwight Jones.
CBS 6 found no evidence that a plow touched the neighborhood.
“This is horrible, horrible,” Burnett said.
In fact, Hipolit and her photojournalist Eli Gardiner drove all over Richmond and Henrico checking out side streets and found the same situation.
“No, I don`t think it`s been plowed,” a woman said in North Church Hill.
“There`s been no salt, no pre-treatment, I mean zero,” a man said in the Libbie and Grove area.
“This road doesn`t look like it`s been plowed at all,” a man said on the Henrico side of Willow Lawn.
The City of Richmond said they planned to have all streets plowed or chemically treated by Tuesday night.
Henrico County’s website said once bare pavement shows on priority roads they move into subdivisions that are not passable and plow and spread salt.
“I would at least like to see them run through at least once,” Burnett said.
Also, many parking spaces in downtown Richmond are covered in piles of snow
