FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. -- Fairfax County Fire and Rescue crews were called into duty Friday after a St. Bernard fell through ice on a lake.

St. Bernard dogs are famous for rescuing people lost in the snow, but the large dog got caught in a lake during the middle of the huge snow storm affecting all of Virginia.

The dog fell through the ice about 30 feet from shore on Woodglen Lake.

The owners were tubing down the lake when the dog walked out onto the ice and fell in. The temp at the time was 21 degrees with a wind chill of 8 degrees.

Medics were able to warm him up and after about 30 minutes and said he will be just fine. He was also to return home last night.
