HANOVER COUNTY, Va. — Sheriff’s deputies in Hanover issued a crime alert after three homes were broken into and burglarized during the day Monday. The homes, all located in the western part of Hanover near Doswell, had no connection to each other and appeared to have been selected by the thieves at random, Hanover Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Christopher Stem said.

Electronics and jewelry were among the items taken from the homes.

“The burglaries occurred during the daytime hours when the homes were not occupied,” Sgt. Stem said. “We ask you to be aware of any suspicious activity in and around your area. For example, if you observe an unfamiliar vehicle pull into your neighbor’s driveway while they are at work, report that to us immediately. Obtain as much information as safely as possible. A vehicle description with a license plate number and direction of travel is extremely helpful.”

Anyone with information about the burglaries was asked to call the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office at 804-365-6140 or Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000. Additionally, anyone with a news tip can submit one here.
