RICHMOND, Va. -- A man was killed and two people were hurt in a shooting at a South Richmond dance club early Monday morning. The man was shot and killed just after 1 a.m. at Illusions Night Club, at 6346 Midlothian Turnpike, according to Richmond Police. That man was shot and killed on the club's dance floor.
Another person inside the club was also shot. That man was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries, police said.
The third victim, a woman, was hit by a car as she and the others inside the nightclub fled for their safety. She also suffered a non-life threatening injury.
There were actually several off-duty Richmond Police officers at the club at the time of the shooting.
"We have four off-duty officers who work this club. It was crowded, about 150 to 200 people inside," said Richmond Police Spokesman Gene Lepley. "When they heard reports shots had been fired inside, the officers went inside the night club and discovered the body."
Police have not yet released information about the shooter who opened fire in the night club. Police have not yet released information about what led up to the shooting, nor identified the person who was killed. Anyone with additional information can submit a news tip here.
