VCU wins round one of Capital City Classic

The VCU Rams won their seventh in a row overall this year after they beat Richmond 94-89 in overtime.  Je'Quan Lewis led four Rams in double figures with a career 29 points.  Korey Billbury scored 12 of his 20 points in the second half.  The Spiders were led by Shawn'Dre Jones' 26 points.  T.J. Cline added 22 points before he fouled out.  VCU's win coupled with St. Bonaventure's loss at Duquesne has the Rams in sole possession of first in the A-10.

VCU beat George Mason 78-77 to snap an 18 game ACC road losing streak and improve to 4-1 in the conference.

Randolph-Mason fell at Roanoke 91-85.

In High School girls action, Highland Springs remained undefeated after a 78-35 win over Bethel in the StatVA classic.

Also in that tournament, L.C. Bird beat Western Branch 56-54 in overtime.
