CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A former U.S. Navy sailor and Chesterfield County school bus driver was sentenced to 15 years in prison after he committed sex crimes with a child. Zebulon Resolve Wendt, 34, of Chesterfield, was convicted of producing child pornography. Wendt babysat and sexually abused the child on "numerous occasions," a spokesman for the United States Attorney's Office said.

The child's age was not disclosed.

"Canadian law enforcement detected Wendt after he uploaded several images of a juvenile female engaged in sexually explicit conduct from his Chesterfield residence to an Internet website," a press release from the United States Attorney's Office read. "[Federal agents] subsequently executed a search warrant at Wendt’s residence where they recovered several computers, external hard drives, and other computer equipment. A subsequent forensic examination of the seized items revealed thousands of images and videos of a juvenile female engaged in sexually explicit conduct that Wendt himself had taken with a digital camera and saved onto his computer equipment."

Wendt shared the images and videos over the Internet. He pleaded guilty to the charges in October 2015.
