Man dies after injuries sustained in eastern Henrico shooting

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- One man is dead after being shot Wednesday afternoon in eastern Henrico.

Henrico Police received report of a shooting in the 2700 block of Byron Street. Officers and rescue personnel found an adult male victim on scene with life-threatening injuries, confirmed Lt. C.J. Maurice, with Henrico Police.

The victim was transported to VCU Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

The victim’s identity is not being released at this time pending positive identification and next of kin notification.

Henrico Detectives are currently on scene and are in the preliminary stages of this investigation.   There is no suspect information at this time to be released.

Two cars driving by each other shot at each other, sources told CBS 6 reporter Jon Burkett, but this has not been confirmed by police.
