Man arrested in Midlothian Turnpike motel homicide

RICHMOND, Va. — Police have arrested a man in connection with a Midlothian Turnpike homicide on January 7, 2016.

Alvin L. Ruffin, Jr, 25, of Richmond has been charged with voluntary manslaughter in the murder of Mark Jackson-Silver, 19.

Jackson-Silver was shot multiple times inside the Midlothian Inn motel in the 6500 block of Midlothian Turnpike. He was taken to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

This was the city of Richmond’s fifth homicide of 2016.

The case remains under investigation.
