Richmond, Va. -- A storm system will move through the region through early Sunday.  This will spread a swath of steadier rain across the state late Saturday evening through about daybreak Sunday.  Rain will turn scattered during Sunday morning, and we will dry out Sunday afternoon with some sunshine.

Our CBS 6 Interactive Radarwill show where the rain is right now.  This computer model will show you the timing of the storm through Sunday:

Rainfall could exceed 1/2 inch in some areas, and an inch or more is possible for spots in northwestern Virginia.  After highs reaching the 60s Sunday, colder air will arrive as the storm departs.  Light snow will fall across West Virginia, which is good news for the ski resorts there.  Heavier snow will affect St. Louis up through Chicago and the Great Lakes.

The colder air behind the system will produce highs in the low to mid 40s on Monday.  We will see slightly warmer temperatures Tuesday before a much colder chunk of air moves in Tuesday night and Wednesday.  With that cold front and a disturbance passing by, we could see some flurries or a light snow shower.  The best chance of seeing this will be well northwest of Richmond, and there could be a minimal dusting in a few areas.

Temperatures will moderate a little at the end of the week, but they will still be fairly close to normal.  Our normal high for the week ahead is in the mid/upper 40s, and the normal low is in the mid/upper 20s.
