CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- This week, I tried to be Pastor Steve Vaughan. In addition to being a Bereavement Director and Hospice Chaplain, Steve is a serious woodturner. Woodturning is a form of woodworking that uses a lathe tocreate art and bowls.
This is a fun and dusty job with wood chips flying everywhere. It was important to wear safety gear and closed toe shoes.
I turned a small maple bowl. I used a bandsaw to cut a large chunk of wood and then used a lathe where I turned it into a bowl.
I had the best time. The Vaughans were so kind and welcoming. If there is a job you would like me to try, click here to tell me all about it.
