CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — Police arrested a Chesterfield couple accused of robbing one store of lottery tickets and then cashing them in at another. Sarah M. Smith, 28, and Terrell Tarver, 37, were arrested earlier this week.
Tarver was charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in relation to the robbery. Smith was charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, receiving stolen goods and obtaining money by false pretenses in relation to the robbery and cashing of the lottery tickets.

The crime happened Wednesday, December 30, police said, when a man robbed the Circle K on Ivey Mill Road.
“A man, who was armed with a handgun, entered the business and demanded money, cigarettes and lottery tickets. After receiving the items, the suspect fled. No one was injured in the robbery,” a Chesterfield Police spokesperson said.
About 10 minutes later, a man and woman pulled up to the Wawa at 11021 Iron Bridge Road.
“A few minutes later, the woman from the vehicle entered the store and cashed several lottery tickets that were stolen from the Circle K. At one point, the man also entered the store,” police said.
Police are searching for a woman who cashed lottery tickets stolen during a robbery on Wednesday, Dec. 30.
On January 5, police released surveillance photos of the couple. Tips from the public helped detectives identify the pair.
