Golden Globes nominate ‘Spotlight,’ ‘The Revenant,’ ‘Carol,’ ‘Mad Max: Fury Road,’ and ‘Room’ for best picture

The 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards are scheduled to take place at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills and will be telecast live on NBC on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), a group that represents journalists from 55 countries, presents the awards, which are in the fields of both television and motion pictures.

The motion picture awards were first presented in 1944. Awards for television were first presented in 1955.

The Golden Globes were not regularly broadcast on TV until the early 1980s.

As of January 2015, Meryl Streep is the actress with the most nominations – 29. She has 8 wins, also a record.
