Regal Cinemas to offer sensory friendly screenings at Short Pump location

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Regal Cinemas announced the return of the My Way Matinee program featuring sensory friendly screenings. These screening gives kids or families with autism the chance to enjoy movies in an accepting environment.

My Way Matinee program will be featured at 24 Regal Cinemas across the country including one in Central Virginia. The Regal Short Pump Stadium 14 & IMAX in Henrico will begin showing the films on January 9.

Audiences have the opportunity to sing, dance and shout during the movie. The program will run from January through March. Each month will feature a new kids movie in a sensory friendly environment with the lights on and volume lowered.

All showtimes for the sensory friendly screenings will begin at 10:30 a.m. for a reduced ticket price of $6.50.

My Way Matinee film schedule:

  • Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip – January 9
  • Norm of the North – February 6
  • Kung Fu Panda 3 – March 5

“We heard the overwhelmingly positive response from the community with the first four movies in the My Way Matinee program,” said Rachel Lueras, marketing manager at Regal Entertainment Group.  “We are excited to offer up another slate of exciting films for all families to enjoy.”
