RICHMOND, Va. -- A man shot multiple times inside a Richmond motel room has died. Now, seven days into 2016, Richmond Police are investigating the city's fifth homicide of the new year.
When police were called to the Midlothian Inn just after 1 a.m., they found a man suffering from several gunshot wounds in one of the motel rooms. He was taken to Chippenham Hospital, where he later died of his injuries.
Police had not yet identified a suspect in the Thursday morning shooting. Anyone with information was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
The shooting comes one day after two men robbed people at the same motel along the 6500 block of Midlothian Turnpike. Police did not say whether the crimes were related.
