CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A Chesterfield woman reached out CBS 6 Problem Solvers, concerned about how much she’s been paying to heat her home.
Sandra Silas said AmeriGas has been charging her $4.80 per gallon of propane. She said this was much higher than she’s paid in the past. She said after doing some research she found the going rate for propane to be between $2.40 and $2.60 a gallon.
Silas said she called AmeriGas and told them, but she was told they could only lower her rate by ten cents a gallon.
So CBS 6 Problem Solvers stepped in and got results for her.
AmeriGas now says they have lowered her rate to $2.82 a gallon.
"I received a phone call from the manager in their office and he advised that they should have been able to negotiate a rate with me because I had been a long time standing customer and they should have talked to a manager before saying they could only lower the rate by 10 cents," Silas said.
AmeriGas sent CBS 6 a statement that said:
“AmeriGas does not comment on specific customer situations or on pricing policy. We remain strongly committed to providing our customers with good value, and to doing so with high-quality, safe, and reliable service and supply."
