Family members adopt deceased homeless man’s dog

Posted

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. – The dog of a homeless man who was found dead in a Walmart parking lot earlier this week has been adopted.

The man known as “Buck” or “Uncle Buck” was found dead in his truck on New Year's Eve.

It was the barking of his dog “Tara” that got the attention of shoppers.

Relatives said "Buck's" name was Leslie Rivers and that e had health problems and  lived in his truck for about 10 years. They said the decision was primarily because he refused to go to a home where "Tara" was not allowed.

WTVR CBS 6 was told “Tara” was adopted by “Buck's” relatives Saturday.
