LANCASTER COUNTY, Va. — State police said one person was killed in a fiery single-vehicle crash in Lancaster County early Saturday morning.
The wreck happened just before 1:20 a.m. at Huntsville Road and River Road.
That’s when Sgt. Steve Vick with Virginia State Police said a Ford Crown Victoria headed north on River Road ran off the highway, struck a tree and bust into flames.
The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene.
“The victim’s remains were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for positive identification and autopsy,” Vick said. ”
The name will be released once this has been completed.”
The crash remains under investigation.
