Posted

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — While Henrico Police patrol White Oak Village this Christmas, they are not only looking for suspicious activity, but also examples of people shopping safely. White Oak Village is an outdoor shopping center on South Laburnum Avenue in eastern Henrico that includes stores like Target, PetSmart and Sam’s Club.

“The Henrico County Police Division has partnered with businesses in White Oak Village to reward safe shoppers,” Henrico Police posted on Facebook. “During our holiday patrols in White Oak Village, if we ‘catch’ you safe shopping you will be rewarded with discounts to local businesses.”

So what exactly are officers looking for? Here are the six things the Henrico Police Department listed:

1. Always LOCKING your vehicle
2. Not storing valuables in your vehicle in plain sight
3. Being aware of your surroundings
4. Not overloading with bags
5. Parking in well lit areas
6. making frequent trips to your vehicle to store packages
