CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- It is their job to serve you hot food, and fast. But Greg McQuade thought it was time to serve up a surprise to one group of hard-working Chesterfield servers. Greg's Month of Giving idea took him to the Cracker Barrel off Hull Street Road.

All month long, the CBS 6 news team will be in the community, helping people through random acts of kindness. We hope those who are helped will be inspired to pay it forward. If you've been inspired to pay it forward, click here to share your story.

Soon after meeting the servers, who thought they were going to be interviewed for a story on feeding hungry Christmas shoppers, Greg revealed the truth to them.

"A little birdie told me that during the holiday season you guys always work hard and could use a little help," Greg said. "We want to give you, during our Month of Giving, a gift card for each of you."

In addition to the three servers at the restaurant that day, Greg presented two gift card to servers who were unable to be at work due to their faltering health.

The servers were super appreciative and gave Greg big hugs as co-workers applauded.
