STAFFORD, Va. – A man is currently jailed after his mother was found dead in her home.

Christopher Michael Ellis, age 38, of the 500 block of Fagan Drive in Stafford County has been charged with one count of first-degree murder.

Early Friday morning, Dec. 11, around 5 a.m., Stafford deputies said they found Ellis in his backyard yelling and screaming and acting strangely.

The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office said Ellis assaulted a deputy and had a brief struggle with the responding deputies.

Ellis was taken into custody.

When deputies checked the residence they located an elderly female dead from blunt force trauma to the upper body.

The investigation indicated that Ellis was the subject who inflicted the trauma to the female.

The female has been identified as Ellis’s mother, Elizabeth Ellis, age 67, of the same address.

“Our prayers and condolences go out to the Ellis family,” states Sheriff Charles Jett. “This tragedy is one that no family or individual should ever have to endure.”

This is an ongoing investigation and no additional information is available at this time.

He is currently incarcerated at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
