RICHMOND, Va. -- Hundreds of shoppers attended the grand opening Thursday for the new ALDI grocery on Forest Hill Avenue.
The store had a ribbon-cutting ceremony this morning and gave the first 100 shoppers a golden ticket, containing ALDI gift certificates.
ALDI is considered a low cost grocery store. Customers don’t use bags and they have to rent grocery carts, like baggage carts at the airport.
The store is located at 7319 Forest Hill Ave. This location is the grocery chain’s fifth store in Central Virginia.
There are currently ALDI grocery stores located at 7003 Mechanicsville Turnpike in Mechanicsville, 8951 Staples Mill Road in Henrico, 1776 North Parham Road in Henrico and 465 Charles Dimmock Parkway in Colonial Heights.
ALDI has nearly 1,500 stores in 32 states across the country.
