Police ID man killed in single-vehicle wreck on I-85 in Dinwiddie

DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. — State police said one person was killed and another person was hospitalized after a single-vehicle wreck on I-85 Thursday afternoon. Officials said the wreck happened at 3:55 p.m. on I-85 north at mile marker 46.

State Police has identified the victim as Eliseo Robles-Hernandez, 33, of Fredericksburg, Va. He was the passenger in the crash. He was wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.

The driver Jonathan S. Wieland, 35, of Bristow, Va.,  was transported by Med-Flight to VCU Medical Center with serious injuries. He was also wearing a seatbelt.

State Police said a 2008 Ford F-150 was travelling north on Interstate 85, when it ran off the road left striking several trees and coming to rest on the embankment.

Wieland was charged with Reckless Driving. Speed and alcohol are not considered factors in the crash.
