RICHMOND, Va. – “Wish I could help U all. U will find HiddenRVACash N spots 12/8/15-12/23/15,” was the message that pinged my cellphone Tuesday night, from a Twitter account quiet over a year now, after a flurry of activity that involved hiding cash for people to find.

In 2014, a trend swept the nation, where cash was hidden in places and hints left on Twitter so people could find the money.

The bio on the local Twitter account states that the person leaving cash is a retiree, who wants to give back.

“Retiree from the Payday & Title Loan industry. Recently inspired by my Twitter experience. Ready to Give Back to those with both immediate Needs & Dreams!

When the account was activated, someone started hiding envelopes of cash at locations around town and tweeting out clues to help people find the money.

Thousands of dollars where given to people in the Richmond area in June 2014.

The first clue will be tweeted Wednesday afternoon. According to the account, clues will be left from Dec. 8 through Dec. 23, 2015.

The account is also used to encourage giving back to the community. Today the account asked; “How will you give back this holiday?”

CBS 6 is also celebrating the community with our “Month of Giving.”

All we ask is that people pay it forward, and help others in need.

CBS 6 employees were asked how they would like to support someone, and the ideas range from a mortgage payment, buying a Christmas tree, paying for new tires and picking up the tab at a restaurant. You can see all these stories here.

How will you give back this holiday season? Leave a comment on our Facebook page.
