Police identify man found dead in Richmond ditch

RICHMOND, Va. –Richmond Police identified the homicide victim found in a ditch Saturday morning at Southwood Apartments.

At approximately 3:25 a.m. on Nov. 28, an officer on patrol was flagged down by a person who reported hearing a gunshot fired in the apartment complex.

The officer found the body of Misael E. Maldonado Garcia, 30, of the 4600 block of Southwood Parkway, lying in a drainage ditch in the near the entrance to the apartment complex. He died of an apparent gunshot wound, according to police.

Detectives are actively working all available leads and continue to gather additional information as part of the ongoing investigation.
