CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. -- Investigators are looking to identify a man wearing a black helmet and backpack while robbing a local cell phone store and they think the public may be able to help identify him.
It happened around noon this past Sunday at the Verizon Wireless in a Ruther Glen shopping center. While robbing the store the armed suspect was caught on video surveillance in disguise.
But it's his clothes and mannerism that investigators said may lead to his arrest.
"The way the person handles themselves. The way they walk. The clothing that they're wearing. Anything may stand out to someone who knows who this person is," said Caroline County Investigator Travis Nutter. "The jacket or a backpack, or the helmet, tennis shoes, it may be a combination of things someone would recognize," said Nutter.
It's any one of those details Caroline County Sheriff's Office are hoping can lead to the capture of the unidentified armed suspect.
No one was harmed during the robbery as the suspect ordered the employee to go into the store bathroom and shut the door while he stole items.
Even though the man approached the store wearing a helmet, deputies said his mode of transportation to and leaving the scene are key details to potentially solving the case as well.
"We're hoping that someone might have seen the vehicle that suspect got out of. Or saw how the suspect approached the store," added Nutter.
