CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. — Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech is one of the most famous speeches in the history of the United States. But as powerful as those words remain, it is another King address that sends chills down the spine of one Chesterfield man.
George Martin recently received a one-of-a-kind gift — tapes of a speech King gave at a Cleveland church in 1967. Those tapes spent decades gathering dust. The amazing and inspiring recording has never been heard by the public — until now.
“I’m very biased, okay, but I feel it’s the greatest find in 50 years in America,” Martin said about his tapes.
Tuesday night on CBS 6 News at 11, Greg McQuade will turn up the volume on the lost Martin Luther King tapes. He will also introduce you to the man who recorded the tapes and find out why — after all these years — he was inspired to give away this hidden piece of history.
