MECHANICSVILLE, Va. — A student-led vigil will be held Tuesday morning outside Lee-Davis High School in Mechanicsville where students will pray for two classmates hurt in a crash.

The students, whose names are being withheld from publication at this time due to their ages, were hurt in the early Sunday morning alcohol-related crash near Virginia Center Parkway in Glen Allen, police said.

In addition to Tuesday morning’s prayer vigil at the school, dozens of classmates met Sunday night to pray for the 17-year-old girls.

“The investigation revealed a vehicle, operated by a juvenile female, traveling southbound on Brook Road disregarded a traffic light and struck a vehicle making a left turn onto Virginia Center Parkway. After striking the turning vehicle, the vehicle continued into a concrete wall in the southwest corner of the intersection. Both occupants of the first vehicle were transported to VCU Medical Center with serious injuries,” a Henrico Police spokesman said. “It has been determined that alcohol was involved as a contributing factor in the accident and charges are pending at this time.”

The driver of the second vehicle involved in the crash was not hurt, police said.
