Richmond, Va. — A nice warming trend will continue throughout the week, pushing highs above normal for Thanksgiving with highs in the 60s.
Looking back to all Richmond Thanksgivings since 1897, low temperatures average out to the mid 30s and high temperatures average out to the upper 50s. It’s been as cold as 20° in 1930 and as warm as 77° in 1933.
Temperatures in the 60s for Thanksgiving is not unusual. In fact, almost a third of our Thanksgivings have highs in the 60s. The majority of the years have the holiday with highs in the 50s and 60s.
There have only been a few Thanksgivings when the thermometer failed to reach a high of 40°. This will definitely not be one of those years!
