Toll Breakers: The biggest violators — and how they get away without paying

Posted

RICHMOND, Va. — Nobody likes to pay tolls, but they are a part of life in Central Virginia, especially if you commute from Chesterfield to Richmond or vice versa.

While most folks throw change into the bucket or have an E-ZPass on their windshield, some Richmonders just drive through without paying. And it is not just once or twice. Some drivers have gone without paying hundreds of times.

In fact, even though the toll booths have surveillance cameras, and the guilty drivers are almost always identified, some folks have been able to get away without paying their fines for years.

CBS 6 investigative reporter Melissa Hipolit uncovers the biggest violators in Central Virginia, the shocking amount of money they owe and how they have been able to avoid paying their fines for so long.

Watch what happens when our WTVR CBS 6 crew confronts one of the violators. Be sure to watch — or set your DVR — for Monday’s CBS 6 News at 11 p.m.
