CHESTERFIELD, Va. — A Chesterfield Police officer is recovering from an early morning crash.

Police say the officer hit a Honda Civic after investigators say the driver of that car failed to yield at a red light and pulled in front of the officer’s car.

It happened around 1:30 am at Walsmley Blvd and Newby Bridge.

Paramedics took the deputy to the hospital with minor neck and back pains, he is expected to be okay.

No one in the Honda was seriously hurt.

Charges against the Honda driver are pending.
