NOTTOWAY COUNTY, Va. — A Blackstone woman was killed Friday in a two vehicle crash in Nottoway County. The crash occurred at 2:54 p.m., on Route 460 at the intersection of Route 609 (Yellowbird Road).
A 1993 Cadillac was traveling south on Route 609 crossing Route 460 when it struck the trailer of a 2005 Peterbilt tractor trailer that was travelling east on Route 460. The Cadillac then spun around ejecting the front seat passenger before coming to rest on the left shoulder embankment.
The passenger of the Cadillac, Betty J. Dalton, 71, of Blackstone, Va., died at the scene; she was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the Cadillac Edward E. Dalton, 80, of Blackstone, Va., was transported to MCV hospital via State Police Med-Flight with serious injuries; he was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the trailer John M. Anderson, 32, of Farmville, Va., was not injured in the crash; he was wearing a seatbelt.
The crash remains under investigation.
