Sorry. While today is a great day to be a redhead, it’s not “National Love Your Red Hair Day.”

Despite several news stories (here, here, here, and here — and there are dozens more) that will suggest otherwise, November 12th is NOT the national day to love your red hair. You’re a week late.

The “National Love Your Red Hair Day” being referenced on social media and in several news stories was actually on November 5th. It was established as #NationalLoveYourRedHairDay by Stephanie and Adrienne Vendetti, co-founders of “How to be a Redhead.”

“We wanted to create a national recognized day of the year that empowered redheads to LOVE their hair. But, most of all, it’s a reminder for women everywhere, redhead or not, to love their unique qualities,” Stephanie wrote.

While we can all agree today is not the official “National Love Your Red Hair Day,” it’s still a great day to be a red head.
