DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. -- A Chesterfield woman was arrested following a police pursuit that ended in fire along Interstate 85 in Dinwiddie Monday morning. Police have not yet said what prompted the pursuit, which began in Mecklenburg County and traveled through Mecklenburg, Brunswick and Dinwiddie.
"The vehicle [a 2008 Nissan Altima] was traveling north at an excessive speed when it struck a 2009 Dodge Charger on the right passenger side. The impact caused the Nissan to run off the right side of the interstate. It then came back into the northbound lanes and struck a 2013 Chevrolet Impala in the rear," Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Steve Vick said. "The driver of the Nissan, Angelica Guzman, 26, of North Chesterfield, Va., then stopped the vehicle at the 57 mile marker in the northbound lanes. The car then caught fire. Guzman was not injured in the crashes. The South Hill Police Officer driving the Chevrolet Impala and the Dinwiddie County Sheriff's Deputy driving the Dodge Charger were not injured when their vehicles were struck."
The fiery incident closed all lanes of Interstate 85 north. The left lane reopened at about 11 a.m. The entire interstate reopened about an hour later. Anyone with additional information can email a news tip here.
