HENRICO COUNTY, Va. – A Central Virginia mother is begging for the community’s help to find the driver who ran down her daughter late Friday night.

Henrico police said officers were called Hanover Road near Midage Road around 11:40 p.m. on Friday.

Stephanie Dawn Godfrey, who posted photos of her daughter’s injuries on Facebook at 3:20 a.m. Saturday, said she was walking home from work when it happened.

“All of my friends in the Sandston/Highland Springs area,” Godfrey posted on Facebook. “Please be on the lookout for an SUV/minivan type vehicle missing the chrome passenger side mirror and has LED taillights."

Godfrey said her daughter was left lying in a ditch on the side of the road. Photos show her with bloody scratches and a bruised arm.

After investigating, officers said the teen had been hit by the mirror a ford SUV. The victim described the vehicle as a dark color.
Police said they do not believe alcohol was involved in the incident.

In one Facebook exchange, Godfrey said that her daughter was not seriously injured and was “just sore” after she was hit. The family said she was released from the hospital Sunday afternoon.

Anyone with information should call Henrico Police at 804-501-5000 or Crime Stoppers at 804-780-1000.
