Art, music and food highlight pow-wow in celebration of Native American month

RICHMOND, Va. — November and Native American month and an event this weekend at Richmond International Raceway will help mark the occasion. The Great American Indian Exposition “is an opportunity for the public to interact with American Indian dancers, singers, drummers, artists and craftspersons.”

This event is an attempt by Pow-Wow to educate the public about American Indians, past and present, through the arts. $8,000 will be offered in dance and drum prizes. Buffalo stew, Navajo Tacos and Indian Corn Soup are some of the foods that will be available. Turquoise jewelry will be abundant at the event as well as bead work, paintings and rugs.

The pow-wow is scheduled to run Friday, November 6 through Sunday, November 8. Admission is $10 for adults and $6 per child.
