CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Four-year-old Branden Witt is headed home from the hospital after undergoing brain surgery.

"Branden has a new hair cut and we're going home today," Branden's mother Carol Witt said. "His progress had been amazing and they are allowing him to go home!"

Branden's dad Robert Witt said his son got out of the hospital seven days early. "We weren't expecting to feel okay. I was just glad my son was back," Robert said.

Branden's mom and dad thanked the community for their continued prayers and support during this time.

"It's great to see something that brought the nation together for one little boy that just want a couple pieces of candy," Robert said.

You may recall, Branden's October 26 surgery and subsequent recovery made it impossible for him trick or treat on Halloween. That was why his parents organized an early Halloween for him in their Swift Creek Crossing neighborhood. On October 17, more than 40 neighbors came to their door to hand out candy to give Branden candy.

"So many neighbors, family, friends and even people we don't know have poured out love to not only Branden, but our entire family and we are so blessed beyond means because of it," Carol said after their early trick-or-treating session. "We are truly overwhelmed with the responses and know its God's work at hand."
