RICHMOND, Va. -- A driver was charged with failure to stop at a red light after a Wednesday morning crash on Monument Avenue. The crash took out a traffic light at the corner of Monument and Thompson Street in the city's Museum District.
The preliminary report from Richmond Police indicated the driver of a white truck headed west on Monument was unable to stop in time at the red light. The driver said wet roads played a factor in his inability to stop.
The truck collided with a SUV that was on Thompson Street, crossing over Monument Avenue. The impact sent the SUV crashing into a traffic light. The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital with what police called minor injuries.
The investigation into the crash was on-going.
