CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- The Chesterfield County School Board voted to approve club swimming for high schools Tuesday night.
This makes swimming an official sport for Chesterfield County high schools.
Since swimming will be a club sport, parents and students will run and fund it. This includes paying for transportation and even their coach.
Parents have been pushing for this approval over the last few months.
Swim Chesterfield was created in an effort to gain Chesterfield County School Board approval for the implementation of club level, competitive high school swim teams with the ultimate goal of becoming an official Virginia High School League sport.
