North Carolina Central student shot, campus lockdown lifted

DURHAM, North Carolina — A lockdown on the North Carolina Central University campus was lifted late Sunday night about one hour after a student was shot. Campus police responded to the shooting off Lawson Street near Alston Avenue, at about 11 p.m. Sunday. The lockdown was lifted when police gave the all clear at about 11:50 p.m.

“The NCCU Police Department responded to the incident and remains on scene investigating the situation. One individual, who is a student, was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries,” the university released in a statement.
