RICHMOND, Va. – A man and his dog Scooter –named after a vehicle with less horsepower than the one they will ride in on — arrive in Richmond today as part of a nationwide fundraising event for the families of fallen soldiers.
Adam Sandoval roars into Richmond today from Suffolk, on his quest to visit every Harley Davidson dealership in the lower 48 states.
The two-year, over 65,000-mile effort, is how Sandoval is fundraising for The American Legion Legacy Scholarship Fund while promoting Harley Davidson shops along the route.
The organization helps fund higher education opportunities for children whose parents lost their lives in the line of duty.
Sandoval, whose route is mapped out online, will visit the Ashland HD around 1 p.m. and then head over to Midlothian and Prince George stores. He first stopped in Richmond to meet up with the Combat Vets Motorcycle Association chapter 27-3.
He has chronicled his journey through various social media platforms; Twitter, Periscope, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook.
Sandoval said that the ride will set a new world record for most miles in one country, the largest group ride and the longest charity ride in history.
