CHESTERFIELD, Va. – A couple who share a love of movies tied the knot Wednesday, on a day made famous when a platonic couple (plus one) time-traveled to the future.

Raquel Barrera and Mark McLeod chose "Back to the Future Part II" as the theme for their nuptials.

The couple, Barrera from Gloucester County and McLeod from York County, met in Oct. 2011. They were both working at Busch Gardens when they fell in love.

Wednesday's celebration was decades in the making and the party planner may not be who you would expect.

"I've been planning this for about 20 years," said McLeod.

He said he predicted the future when he was eight.

"I made the decision when I was very young that if I had the opportunity to get married on that date, that if it could happen at that time then absolutely, I was going to do everything that I could to make it happen," said McLeod.

He said he was grateful to find and fall in love with Raquel, who helped him bring his dream wedding from the movie screen to reality.

The wedding featured the famous DeLorean, as seen in "Back to the Future Part II" and wedding décor including a signed screen play on display.

In "Back to the Future Part II," Marty McFly travels to October 21, 2015 to save his children -- yet to be born in "Back to the Future's" 1985.

McFly and Doc Brown travel to this day in time at exactly 4:29, which is when the couple exchanged wedding vows in Chesterfield County.

Now that is a 1.21 jigawatts wedding! It also wasn’t the only one in the world, after all this day was 26 years in the making. Over in the United Kingdom, Luke Hayes and Emily Wells tied the knot as well.

Their reception included ionic film props, like a DeLorean time travelling sports car replica and a series of hover boards, with which guests posed for photos.
