RICHMOND, Va. – Since 2008, Richmonders have braved the cold to warm their eyes on the public light-based art and performances at InLight, curated by 1708 Gallery.

This year the free event will be held at the VMFA, and organizers intend to add an extra evening.

Each year, InLight features different artists who create exhibits in response to the neighborhood where the event is hosted that year.

At the VMFA visitors will see video projections illuminating the building facades, light-based sculpture that bridges the walkways, performances on the front lawn, interactive projects where visitors help create that artwork, and a Community Lantern Parade that winds its way through the entire grounds.

InLight has featured 190 local, national, and international artists and artist collectives across Richmond’s neighborhoods, from Broad Street to historic Tredegar, to the Riverfront Canal Walk and over to Monroe Park.

Organizers said they have engaged more than 30,000 visitors over the past seven years, and that 9,000 showed up last year.

In response, 1708 Gallery has started an Indiegogo campaignwith snazzy reward incentives.

The event will be held on Nov. 13 and 14. The museum will remain open late for the exhibition, which takes place from 7 p.m. until midnight.

The InLight Richmond 2015 juror-selected artists are: Allison Berkoy, Erika Diamond, Laure Drogoul, Zach Kurth- Nelson, Justin Ginsberg, Elizabeth Hamilton, Tim Harper and Matt Lively,  Brooke Inman, Matthew Jensen, Benjamin Jones, Robert Lisek, VisuaLabs: Will May, Kevin Cwalina, and Jonah Tobias, Eva Rocha, Joshua Thorud and Anthony Earl Smith, Robert Walz, Rhonda Weppler and Trevor Mahovsky, and Alice Pixley Young.

Organizers plan to soon announce further event details, which include an event map, parking information, lantern making and parade details, and a list of food vendors.
