Bindi Irwin must have had the time of her life.
Fan favorite Irwin and professional dance partner Derek Hough earned a perfect score of 40 for their “Dirty Dancing” movie-inspired rumba to “(I’ve Had) the Time of My Life” on Monday night’s episode of “Dancing With the Stars.”
“Dirty Dancing” star Jennifer Grey, who played Baby and danced the original choreography with the late Patrick Swayze in the movie, stopped by rehearsals to chat with the pair. “The key is to trust,” she told them.
Grey, who is currently starring on the Amazon Prime comedy “Red Oaks,” won season 11 of “Dancing With the Stars” with Hough. She said that she and Swayze had never rehearsed the famous lift before filming it for the 1987 movie and that she would never do it again. Swayze died of cancer in 2009.
The Irwin/Hough rumba wasn’t the only perfect score of the “Famous Dances Night” on “Dancing With the Stars.”
Tamar Braxton and pro dancer Valentin Chmerkovskiy did a perfect jazz routine to Janet Jackson’s “Rhythm Nation,” while Andy Grammer and pro dancer Allison Holker nailed a jazz routine to “Good Morning” from the classic movie “Singin’ in the Rain.”
They had to impress “Grease” star Olivia Newton-John, who joined Julianne Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli at the judges’ table for week five.
Alexa PenaVega earned the first set of perfect scores the week before, when the celebrities switched pro partners for one episode. PenaVega teamed up with Hough that week to dance a post-apocalyptic tango to Bastille’s “Pompeii.”
Irwin also brought the house down in week four with her tribute to her late father, wildlife conservationist and television star Steve Irwin.
Celebrity chef Paula Deen’s version of Madonna’s “Vogue” with pro partner Louis van Amstel was not enough to protect her Monday night, and she was eliminated from the competition.
