WASHINGTON — – Former Virginia Sen. Jim Webb ended his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination Tuesday, and said he’ll consider an independent run.
“I am withdrawing from any consideration of being the Democratic Party’s nominee for the presidency,” Webb said at a Washington news conference at the National Press Club.
The former Virginia senator complained repeatedly during last week’s first Democratic presidential debate that he wasn’t being given enough time to speak. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders — the two contenders dominating in the polls — were the focus of attention, he contended.
